Fall Woods Near Annecy, France

My husband and I enjoy independent cycle-touring in France. Although we have followed many of the major rivers in our journeys, lately we prefer the mountains, especially the Pyrenees. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve wanted to capture the golden light of a fall forest, with dappled sunlight filtered through the yellow leaves.

This forest on the outskirts of Annecy where we stopped for a quick lunch break before continuing our climb into the Haute Savoie, provided a perfect model. The hunters we encountered there informed us that we weren’t the only ones to appreciate it. The wild boars come down from the higher slopes in the fall in search of the mushrooms that thrive in the fallen oak leaves.
