Okanagan Sunfowers in the Spring
Every spring I look forward to the brief period of 3-4 weeks when the arrow-leaf balsam-root Okanagan sunflowers cloak the forest floor and grassy hills with a proliferation of yellow blooms. This year, they were particularly spectacular.
We were walking our 2-year old Blue Heeler, Jack, on a horse trail through the coniferous forest above the KVR when we came upon this exceptionally dense display. The light was perfect for accentuating the thick red bark of the ponderosa pines. Jack waited patiently to resume his walk while I set up the shot.
